Wellton - POW/MIA Day

Saturday, 22 September 2007

It was POW/MIA (Prisoners of War / Missing In Action) day for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6790 Wellton. Wellton is a town, 29 miles from Yuma. I like the place. It is peaceful.

Michael is a VFW member. He fought in the Korean War when he was a teenager! This morning he played "Amazing Grace" with his bagpipes outside the building and played again inside the building to close the ceremony.

The constitution

A tree of bulbs, with names of POW/MIA on them.

I find these pictures interesting: the different animals that were selected to symbolise the army, navy, airforce, marine and coast guard.

As we were driving away, I saw this. I don't know what it is. Wellton is originally known as a Well Town and history said it drilled water wells to service the railroad.
