Desert, Mountains, Cactus

Tuesday, 15 May 2007

It is hot here! And I was told it is going to get hotter in the next 2 months. The umbrella may provide shade from the sunlight but could not block the heat from the blazing sun penetrating. I can't imagine the children playing in this heat in the middle of the day and they were. According to the Wikipedia, Yuma is one of the hottest cities of any size in the United States, with average July high temperatures of 107 degrees Fahrenheit. And according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Yuma is the sunniest place on earth.

The desert city (as it was referred to in the Wikipedia), is beautiful in its own way. I got to see more of the desert beauty on the drive from Yuma to Mesa yesterday and from Mesa to Yuma today.

I don't see green jungles, bushes. I see wide plains, scrubs.

Passing through mountains

I saw many cactus - tall and small, scrubs like in the cowboy movies.
